SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO ADDS ADDITIONAL MEN'S DIVISION I COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS TO BROADCAST SCHEDULE
NEW YORK – December 30, 2004 – SIRIUS Satellite Radio today announced a multi-year agreement with the Collegiate Conference Group, which represents schools from 11 NCAA Division I conferences, to broadcast select regular season and conference tournament men's basketball games, reinforcing SIRIUS as the destination for college hoops.
Select men's basketball games representing schools from the Big West, Colonial Athletic Association, Horizon League, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Mid-American, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, Southern, Sun Belt, West Coast and Western Athletic conferences will be broadcast on SIRIUS. These games join SIRIUS College Sports Radio's existing lineup of 27 top college hoops programs and 100% coverage of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
“These NCAA Division I conferences boast some of the most passionate fans, and any number of the teams can be the next Cinderella to crash the March tournament,” said Steve Cohen, SIRIUS Vice President of Sports Programming. “With this expansion, SIRIUS provides fans throughout the country with the most college hoops on radio.”
"We are pleased to be able to partner with such a recognized brand as SIRIUS Satellite Radio," said Jonathan B. LeCrone, Horizon League Commissioner and member of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee. "This new venture is another opportunity for us to expand our reach with a nationally known company as well as make some of our best games available nationwide to audiences that would not be able to games from these 11 conferences without this new service. We look forward to a long and pros
These games – when added to SIRIUS' existing rights to broadcast top-ranked teams including Syracuse, Kentucky and Kansas – enable SIRIUS subscribers to hear the most Division I college basketball broadcasts on satellite radio, including 240 broadcasts in January alone.
In March 2005, SIRIUS will carry live play-by-play radio broadcasts of every game of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship. All games from every round will be offered to SIRIUS subscribers in their entirety, with no blackouts and at no extra charge over the basic monthly subscription price of $12.95.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio features the most comprehensive play-by-play and sports talk coverage on satellite radio, including the NFL, NBA, NHL and Barclay's English Premier League Soccer, and its SIRIUS College Sports Radio package features the top three ranked schools in the current BCS football rankings; the USC Trojans, Oklahoma Sooners and Auburn Tigers, along with 24 other major colleges.
SIRIUS radios for the car and home are available at retailers nationwide. More information: sirius.com .
